The COG-703 test is the code for IBM Cognos Tables Manager1 10.1. This is the required certification test if you plan to become an IBM Certified Administrator - Cognos Tables Manager1 (TM1) 10.1. Basically, this is an online certification test written in English language and there will be 60 questions. You will only be given 90 minutes or one hour and a half to answer everything. There will be no time extension. You will pass if, and only if, you garner at least 66% correct answers which is equal to approximately 40 points.

1Z0-053: Oracle Database 11g: Administration II is the second of two exams in the track for certification as an Oracle 11G Database Administrator Certified Professional. This test is intended for candidates with the 11G Associate DBA certification who wish to upgrade their credentials. The 1Z0-052 exam for the Associate level is intended to determine whether a candidate is prepared for a junior DBA role under the supervision of a more senior DBA. The 1Z0-053 exam is designed to indicate that a candidate is ready to assume primary responsibility for an Oracle database.

In addition to holding the OCA-level certification and passing 1Z0-053, candidates must also attend an instructor-led training session from either Oracle or from a vendor approved by Oracle in order to be granted the Oracle Certified Professional designation. The training required for this exam is often quite expensive. However, the number of companies using Oracle for enterprise-class databases means that skilled Oracle database administrators are always in demand. Studying for this exam and taking the training can both assist in getting the skills and knowledge you need for such a position.

The Oracle Education website should always be where you begin the process of pursuing any Oracle certification. For each exam, there is a list available that contains every topic that will be covered. You need to use this list to guide your studying. You need to be very knowledgeable on this subject to have a reasonable chance of passing. Automatic Storage Management also receives significant coverage on the exam. That said, all of the information covered by this exam is important for an Oracle database administrator. You should study this material not so much with the intent of 'passing a test', but with the understanding that you will need it in the future in order to do your job. Passing a test is nice. Not getting fired because you just lost all of the data in your employer's database is much nicer.

The Oracle manuals are an excellent reference when you are studying for this test. The Oracle documentation is very good and you can download every single one free of charge. In particular, as a prospective DBA, if you have not read the Oracle Database Concepts manual yet, I highly recommend that you do so from cover to cover. This is a very readable book and contains an enormous amount of information that you really need to understand as an Oracle database administrator. 1Z0-053 is an OCP-level test. Certification tests at the Oracle Certified Professional level are designed to cover a moderate range of topics to a more significant depth than an equivalent OCA-level exam. This exam concentrates on fewer areas than was covered by 1Z0-052, but requires a deeper understanding of the ones it does cover. Root Bridge for CCNA and CCNP, Part 1

As a CCNA / CCNP candidate you are expected to understand the purpose of the Root Bridge and how it is elected.
The first role which the spanning-tree protocol needs to elect is which switch device on your LAN will act as the Root Bridge, or as I like to refer to it "The reference point."

Each spanning-tree protocol enabled switch will commence the election of the reference point by issuing out of all live ports a frame called a BPDU (Bridge Protocol Data Unit), within this frame are details regarding the transmitting switches spanning-tree credentials that are used to determine if it will be the reference point.
When a switch receives a Bridge Protocol Data Unit it will compare the contents with it's own values to determine if the received values are better than it's own. The first value which the switch will look at will be a value called the "Default Priority", by default this value is set to 32768, which ever switch advertises the lowest Default Priority will be elected the Reference Point (Root Bridge), if on the other hand the Default Priorities are the same the lowest switch MAC address is used to break the tie.
Note: The Default Priority and MAC values are carried within the BPDU.
Once the Reference Point (Root Bridge) has been determined the switches will now need to choose which of their ports will need to block and which can remain open.

The best way to understand how they choose which ports should stay open and which block is to picture two switches connected together via one link, port 1 on switch 1 to port 1 on switch 2. For our example we will imagine switch 1 being the Root Bridge.

As Switch 1 is the Root Bridge and as such will issue BPDU's claiming to be so out of the only port is has connected, switch 2 receives the BPDU on a single port and no other port, since switch 2 can only see the root bridge on a single port it will keep that on open and not block any other port since it cannot see the BPDU on any other port.

If you now connect the two switches together via their respective Port 2 switch 2 will start receiving BPDU's down both port 1 and port 2, in this scenario switch 2 has to block one of the ports but which one?

Different Cisco Certification Tracks

There are several different certification tracks within Cisco certification and each has different benefits to the trainee. Of the different tracks, I only see a benefit in three of them. The main reason is that if you have any of the other tracks, you are probably not more or less qualified than you would have been if you chose the routing and switching option. However, there are a few other tracks that make you truly stand out from your competition when you apply for a full-time job or a consulting gig.
Cisco Voice
The Cisco voice certification oddly has quite a bit to do with routing and switching. Simply the certification teaches you how to operate voice and data on the same network. The information necessary to do this properly is touched on in the regular routing and switching tracks, but the program really deep dives into this when you go with the voice option.
Of course, the voice track also teaches you everything you need to know about Cisco's Voice equipment. This gives you a major leg up when you apply for a job that utilized Cisco equipment or voice and data on the same line. You may not have the knowledge or experience of someone that has a routing and switching background, but this information is more widely available.
Now that VOIP is becoming more popular, I believe the demand for certified Cisco voice people will only increase going forward.
Cisco Security
The other track I recommend regardless of your certification level is Cisco Security. Large companies are seeing increased threats coming at them every day. These threats are not only the typical virus type attacks, but some pretty sophisticated attacks that are designed specifically for the company. Blanket attacks are pretty easy to spot as other companies see the same type of traffic. However, when a hacker goes after a specific target, the threats become much more severe and harder to detect.
For this reason, companies are increasing their IT security budgets and are looking for qualified people to shore up their defenses. This need will never go away as long as people are attached to a global network. Of course, this keeps demand high which in turn will keep wages higher than some of the other Cisco tracks.
Cisco Wireless
Much like the previously mentioned tracks, you will learn about Cisco Wireless technologies regardless of which track you choose. However, the wireless track gets far more in-depth and will make you a specialist even at the lower levels of certification. Everyone knows how to setup a wireless network, but doing it right and understanding exactly what goes into this type of network is another story altogether.
There was a time that companies didn't take this as seriously as they should and the result was a lot of insecure and underperforming networks at most major companies in the world. Companies are only just now becoming a bit wiser and spending resources to get the networks running better.
Whichever certification level you are at now or wish to have, it is always easier to choose your track upfront. You don't want to become a CCNA wireless certified professional, if you are going to want to move into security when you become a CCNP.

Google now offers certifications in several of their products. Each certification includes testing and tutorials on the products before you can become certified. Currently, Google offers different levels of certification for Google AdWords and Google Apps for Education. These are proctored exams that require registration with an external service that monitors you during the exam. Additional details about the third party process are at the end of this article.
Google AdWords Certification
Google offers two levels of certification for their AdWords products. You can certify your company or you can certify as an individual. Being certified in Google AdWords means you are proficient in all the most up-to-date tools and practices for Google AdWords.
Certifying your company as an industry expert in Google AdWords allows you to list your company in the certified partners directory. This allows potential customers and clients to find you when in need of AdWords services. Certified Companies also gain access to exclusive Google market support, business discounts on Google products and events, as well as additional certification membership benefits.
To be certified as a Google AdWords company, you must have at least one member of your company who has passed a minimum of two certification tests themselves. After setting up the webcam and registering with Kryterion's website, you will be able to take the exams. The Webcam takes your picture at the beginning and after you log in to the Kryterion test site. The camera monitors you while you take the exam and the test site locks down your browser. You are not allowed to take phone calls, write, or go to another browser or website while taking the exam.
